Airstream Classic Interior Concepts


Fredricks commissioned an extensive study of the interior of the Airstream Classic in 2006-07.  Our design team developed full concepts for the layout, storage, and utility of the interior.  We were sensitive to the brand language of an American icon throughout our work on the interior concepts.  Although our concepts are not yet in production, we are exploring ways to work with Airstream.

Transportation Markets

Fredricks Design develops solutions for the automotive, heavy equipment + trucks, and public transportation markets. We offer capabilities from industrial design, advanced engineering, prototyping into production release.

Products include: instrumentation panels, door panels, center consoles, seating, and cargo storage systems.

FredPed


Our designers and engineers worked together to research mobility in the workplace.  We quickly realized that people pack and un-pack briefcases many times a day.

Our FredPed solution conveniently houses the briefcase in the tray and other personal products in a lower drawer.  We are also working on integrated power delivery solutions.  Ideally, everyone will want one for the office and one for home.

Outdoor Furniture/Lounge


Our studio is working with various retail channels to design outdoor living furniture and products.  We are developing a portfolio of furniture, storage, and work tools to enhance the outdoor living experience.  The sectional lounge and related products will be launched to market in 2010.

media:scape™


Steelcase selected Fredricks for the production engineering of media:scape based on our experience in design and strength in engineering.  We worked hand in hand with the Steelcase team and IDEO to develop a product true to the design vision while optimizing the mechanical design and engineering for production release.  Fredricks continues to work with Steelcase and IDEO to evolve and expand the product offering.  The product was earned a Best of Neocon 2009 Award and began shipping in late 2009.

During the development of the cobi™ chair, Steelcase Inc. contracted with Fredricks Design Inc. for an engineering resource based on our proven working relationship and strength in engineering.   Fredricks continues to work with Steelcase on various seating projects.

Mechanic Creeper


It's a creeper, a stool, and a mobile tool chest!


Feedback from mechanics indicated a strong demand for utility based, smart work tools.  Fredricks has designed a line of mechanic's products built on real-world problems and real-world solutions.  The creeper shown converts from horizontal to seating position with the click of a button.  The creeper is easy to use, clean, and store.

Klever Innovations X-Change Cutter

Klever Innovations engaged with the Fredricks design team to re-design the handle on their box cutters. We quickly developed form concepts to improve handle ergonomics and offered up several ideas for product branding. The cutter offers an increased comfort over long periods of use and enhanced branding for the retail and catalog markets.

Grills


Fredricks has collaborated with a leading grill and fireplace company to develop a new line of grill products.  The grills are manufactured through established supply chains and distributed through various retail channels.


Our designs are built around modularity, flexibility, and ease of use/service.  Numerous trim packages can be wrapped around a standard frame.  This smart thinking improves manufacturing and, in turn, profitability.

Healthcare/Rehabilitation Chair


Brandrud, 5d Studio, and Fredricks collaborated on development of the ground-breaking, award-winning Centé.


The chair assists in the rehabilitation process for the patient and care giver by utilizing innovative human factoring while also providing superior controls and comfort.  We developed the mechanical engineering aspects of the chair from early phase through product release.

Patrician Demure Casegoods

Presenting several themes and structural concepts, Fredricks worked with the Patrician team to design a casegoods solution ideal for a multitude of healthcare environments. Fredricks’ applied field research, together with Patrician’s furniture expertise offered a focused approach to providing intelligent function and emotional well-being. The outcome was Demure, a unique casegoods blend, leveraging modular structure, clean surfaces, green materials, built-in seating, lighting, power and flexible end panels.

Over the Bed Table (OBT)

Fredricks Design, Inc. launched FredMed in July of 2008.  The new company is focused on enhancing the patient and care-giver experience.  We develop "healing through innovation" furniture, lighting, and work tools.  The OBT shown is the result of 5+ years of extensive research, benchmarking, and development.  The table adjusts effortlessly, is easy to clean, and provides flexible storage and utility for the patient and care-giver.

Carolina Patient Recliner

Carolina (a division of OFS Brands) partnered with Fredricks to explore patient utility and comfort modules for an existing line of healthcare recliners. Our team developed numerous concepts and then worked with Carolina on a hand full of features. The headrest, heated seat/back and IV comfort armrest were showcased at Neocon 2010. We have also worked on a patient utility tray. The response to our ideas has been extremely positive.

The patient modules are in ongoing development. We will introduce products with Carolina at HCD 2010.
